My first positive.

The day I found out I was pregnant was one of the happiest days of my life. After trying for three years without success and having a doctor tell me that I would never have kids, I had pretty much given up on the idea of ever being a mom.

When I started getting sick every night, yes, every night between 3 and 4 AM, I first thought I had some kind of bug. After having this so called "bug" for a week, I thought that maybe I should take a pregnancy test and just see what happens. Maybe, by the grace of God, I would get lucky. So I tell my husband that I think maybe we need to go to the store and buy a test. Of course, he can't figure out why the idea would even come into my head, but off we went. So I buy a store brand test and we go home. I immediately rush to the bathroom where I start reading how the test works. This was a test with a dropper, how neat is that? No sooner than I drop the 3 drops onto the test my husband is banging on the door. So, I drop the drops onto the test, turn, open the door, turn around and I'm positive. In less than 30 seconds on a 3 minute test I was positive. I was so excited at that point all I could do was hug my husband and cry. I never thought the day would come where I could see that positive pregnancy test.

The next morning, I took the second test just to make sure. There it was again. Another positive. I called my mother in complete panic. I was pregnant! Me. Pregnant. How was I going to do this? What if my baby hated me? Of course, my mother told me I would do it because it was done. I was pregnant. She also told me that my baby would never hate me.

My next step was going to the clinic for a pregnancy test to have a due date and proof for my insurance company. We go to the clinic, pay an outrageous $15 for a urine pregnancy test that I had just done at home. They tell me that my precious baby will be due August 21. I was extatic. This was the best news that I ever could have heard.

My son was born August 9 at 8:43 am delivered by cesarian section and weighing in at 9 lbs 5 oz. He was the most beautiful creature that I had ever seen. Still to this day at 19 months, he is just absolutely beautiful. I could not have asked for more.
